Chun-Yuan Yang 楊竣元 is a Taiwanese historical Double bass, 8” foot Violone and Viola da Gamba player based in Amsterdam, specialize in various tuning of historical bass instrument.
Chun-Yuan perform regularly with various groups in different countries, includes La Petite Band( BE), Gleam Ensemble( Taiwan) and Luthers Bach Ensemble (NL)……
As an orchestral bass player. He shared a stage with conductor include Françios- Xavier Roth, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Jos van Veldhoven, Johannes Leertouwer......
As a chamber musician. Chun-Yuan was invited my Gambaist Robert Smith to join the CD production and concert of Ensemble Fantasticus in 2023. He will record Buxtehude Trio Sonata on 8 foot Violone with original tuning( A-Violone )
Chun-Yuan is also focusing on re-discover music for Viennese double bass and been invited to performs solo concert in Dutch Double Bass Festival 2021 And Viennese Bass Day 2022( https:// www.viennesebassdays.org )with success.
Chun-Yuan is plays a original Sebastian Dallinger bass made in 1805 and a original 18th century north german anonymous Viola da Gamba.
Chun-Yuan studied Modern double bass at the New England Conservatory, Boston. He studied Violone with Maggie Urquhart and earned a marking of 10 Cum laude in his final exam. Now he is pursuing his study in Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
